UK Biomass has installed Europe's first micro-CHP unit at Clothier Laboratories in Tyne and Wear.
The 25kW unit is fuelled by natural gas and offers an overall efficiency of 85%, resulting in a significant reduction in energy costs and carbon emissions at the site.
Yanmar, the manufacturers of the unit, have ambitious plans for the UK and European markets, and are hoping to replicate the situation in Japan, where micro-CHP is commonplace. Yanmar currently offer 10kW and 25kW versions of the unit, and will be introducing 15kW and 35kW models in the near future.
There are thousands of suitable sites for micro-CHP in the UK, and the Government has identified the technology as an essential component of its energy and carbon reduction strategies.
With expertise and proven experience in mechanical and electrical design, project management and low carbon heating systems, UK Biomass is well placed to be able to deliver Yanmar's vision.
